ONIDA, S.D. (AP) - Sully County voters are deciding whether to rezone land near Onida for a proposed ethanol plant.
KCCR-AM reports the polls are open Tuesday.
Registered voters of the country will be voting whether they support the Sully County Commissioners decision to rezone a parcel of land just south of Onida. A vote no would not allow the land to be rezoned.
Oahe Grain of Onida is proposing to sell the property to Ring-Neck Energy and Feed.
Ring Neck Energy and Feed CEO Walt Wendland says a “yes” vote would pave the way for a state-of-the art ethanol plant.
Some Onida residents have opposed the plant, saying they don’t want it so close to town.
