HARTFORD CITY, Ind. (AP) - A Blackford County judge has rescheduled the trial for an eastern Indiana man accused of killing a father and daughter in February in Hartford City.

The Star Press reports (https://tspne.ws/1Gp3lgS ) Judge Dean Young on Monday granted a request from Charles R. Whittington’s defense attorney for a continuance of the trial. It had been set for July 28 but the judge set the new date of Nov. 2. Prosecutors also said all evidence in the case might not be available until the middle of August.

The 59-year-old from Portland is charged in the shooting deaths of 40-year-old Shane Williamson and his 14-year-old daughter.

The judge has yet to rule on a defense request for change of venue.

Whittington is being held in jail without bond.
