DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say a North Carolina woman and her granddaughter were the two killed in a crash on a southwest Ohio road that injured three other family members, including the child’s mother who was driving.

State trooper Colby Keller says 65-year-old Khurshid Chaudrhy and 5-year-old Azan Chaudhry were killed Sunday when their minivan went off the road and slammed into several trees. The accident occurred on Interstate 75 near Harrison Township around 4 a.m.

Keller says the family was from Cary, North Carolina and was headed to a funeral in Chicago. The mother, father and their 1-year-old daughter were hospitalized.

Officials said 1-year-old Izna Chaudhry had non-life threatening injuries. The adults’ conditions weren’t available.

The mother was identified as 27-year-old Rubena Elahi and the father as 28-year-old Muhammad Chaudhry.
