SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A woman who admitted to helping her boyfriend in the 2012 death of her step-grandfather has been sentenced to nine years in prison.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports (https://bit.ly/1J1orWn ) Jeannie Sandoval pleaded guilty last year to second-degree murder for her part in the death of 75-year-old Santa Fe resident, George Ortiz. Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer on Monday gave Sandoval the maximum sentence allowed under the plea agreement she settled with prosecutors.

Sandoval agreed to testify against her boyfriend, Anthony Yepez, who was convicted of second-degree murder in April.

Sandoval and Yepez killed Ortiz in 2012 after Ortiz let the couple live with him.

Sandoval testified that Yepez attacked Ortiz and she helped Yepez light Ortiz’s body on fire.

Yepez is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
