EAST BROOKFIELD, Mass. (AP) - One person was killed and three others were seriously hurt in a head-on crash in East Brookfield.

State police say a southbound Toyota Sequoia and a northbound Jeep Wrangler struck head on Route 49 at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

An adult male passenger in the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a 44-year-old woman from Barre, was trapped in the vehicle and was taken to a Worcester hospital after she was extricated.

The driver of the Jeep, a 21-year-old Worcester woman, and her adult male passenger were also hospitalized.

No names were made public.

The crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed.
