ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A federal agriculture official is in New York to talk about bringing more women into leadership roles in agriculture.

United States Department of Agriculture Deputy Secretary Krysta Harden plans to hold a “women in agriculture” round table at Hurd Orchards in Orleans County on Wednesday. She’s also scheduled to speak at the National Farm Business Management Conference in Rochester.

Harden is expected to discuss the importance of urban agriculture and her department’s efforts to encourage women leaders and a new generation of farmers and ranchers.

On Tuesday, Harden toured the Rochester Public Market.
