BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a north Alabama man has pleaded guilty to selling grenade fuses to an unlicensed recipient.

Authorities say 56-year-old Matthew Joseph Smith of Hayden pleaded guilty in a federal court in Birmingham on Tuesday.

Investigators say Smith sold more than 1,300 grenade fuses in October 2014 to someone who didn’t have a license to possess them.

Prosecutors say Smith’s sentencing date is set for Sept. 15.
