MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - An employee of a food service contractor at the Jackson County Jail has been accused of giving inmates contraband in exchange for sexual favors.

The Mail Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1FmqFIe ) 46-year-old Buddy Gene Arnett, of Medford, was indicted Monday on charges related to sexual misconduct, prostitution and supplying contraband.

According to a sheriff’s department news release, investigators discovered in March that Arnett had allegedly traded alcohol, tobacco and a cellphone in exchange for sexual favors. Investigators interviewed more than 20 witnesses, including jail inmates and employees.

Deputy District Attorney Laura Cromwell says more than one inmate is involved in the case, but one man has been charged so far for allegedly arranging g the sexual encounters with other inmates.

Arnett has been scheduled to appear in court on July 9.
