ST. IGNACE, Mich. (AP) - Officials say brief intermittent delays could happen as hardware and software upgrades are completed in toll lane booths on the Mackinac Bridge.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority says the delays could happen this week and next week. Most changes aren’t expected to affect those crossing the bridge. The authority’s Executive Secretary Bob Sweeney says, however, that some “installation glitches” have resulted in delays.

New software will allow online availability of Mac Pass account information. It also will allow the use of credit or debit cards in all lanes at the bridge that connects Michigan’s Upper and Lower peninsulas. And Mac Pass holders will be able to make deposits using credit cards, debit cards or direct deposits.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority says upgrades will be fully implemented this summer.
