PINCKNEYVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Fire fighters say a building on Pinckneyville’s town square is likely a total loss after a large fire.

The fire came almost four years to the day after a massive fire destroyed the Kunz Opera House in the southern Illinois town’s square and killed a DuQuoin firefighter. Fire fighters responded to the Monday evening blaze from at least seven nearby towns.

Pinckneyville Fire Chief Jim Gielow tells the (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan (https://bit.ly/1Lfrc76 ) that the brick structure housed offices and apartments. No one was injured.

The Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
