HAMMOND, La. (AP) - The Hammond City Council has voted 4-1 to rededicate the video bingo tax revenue funding away from the Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center.

The Center’s executive director Anette Kirylo said Tuesday the museum estimated they would receive $180,000 in 2015 from video bingo tax revenues and have received $90,000 so far this year.

The Daily Star reports (https://bit.ly/1KYN31D) video bingo tax revenues will now go completely into the capital improvements fund and the museum will be funded from the general budget at the city’s discretion yearly.

Director of Administration Lacy Landrum reminded the council and audience that the city is not aiming to take away all of the museum’s funding, but change the funding mechanism.
