MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) - A jury has convicted a Long Island man of killing a 28-year-old man behind a laundromat two years ago.
Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1J4hQKO ) reports that 38-year-old Luis Moreno was found guilty of second-degree murder on Tuesday. Prosecutors say Moreno stabbed 28-year-old Darwin Hernandez multiple times in March 2013 and held his jacket so he couldn’t flee.
Moreno was arrested near the scene about three weeks after the killing.
His attorney, Jeffrey Groder, says his client is upset with the jury’s verdict. He says Moreno will appeal.
The Hempstead man faces up to 25 years to life in prison when he’s sentenced on July 15.
