ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - A Sanford Christian mission has reached a settlement with a woman who filed a lawsuit against the group alleging abuse by a man who worked at one of its boarding schools.

New Tribes Mission reached a settlement with the woman who says she was repeatedly sexually assaulted nearly 30 years ago in Africa by a “dorm dad” at the school.

Attorneys for the woman and the mission confirmed the recent settlement of the lawsuit but said they couldn’t discuss terms because of a confidentiality agreement.

The Orlando Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1ffv5vq) reports that the settlement stems from a sex scandal that was exposed in a 2010 report that concluded the mission had concealed several instances of child sexual abuse at schools in Senegal in the 1980s and 1990s.
