CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Randolph County’s school superintendent has been named to the same position in Fayette County.

State Superintendent of Schools Michael Martirano announced the appointment of Terry George on Tuesday. George begins his new duties July 1.

George succeeds Serena Starcher, who is resuming her former position as Fayette County’s assistant superintendent. The West Virginia Board of Education intervened in Fayette County in 2010, citing student achievement and facility issues.
