SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - Officials say nobody was hurt when a small private plane landed on its belly without the use of landing gear at Orange County’s John Wayne Airport.

Airport spokeswoman Jenny Wedge says the Cessna carrying two people slid to a stop on the main runway with its wheels up Tuesday night.

County fire Capt. Steve Concialdi says crews used a crane to remove the plane from the runway. He says the Cessna had a fuel leak and was taken to a safe place at the airport to be inspected.

The Orange County Register reports (https://bit.ly/1R8FnJF ) an unknown number of flights were delayed or diverted.
