KENNER, La. (AP) - Police arrested a New Orleans couple accused of leaving their disabled 24-year-old daughter alone in a parked van while they gambled at a Kenner casino.

Lt. Brian McGregor tells NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune (https://bit.ly/1KYZxWY) 62-year-old Paula Jackson and 71-year-old William Jackson were booked with cruelty to the infirm.

McGregor says the Jacksons drove to the Treasure Chest Casino on Saturday, arriving around 9:15 p.m. With them was Paula Jackson’s daughter, who suffers from a traumatic brain injury.

McGregor says the daughter cannot communicate and is completely dependent on a caretaker.

He says someone spotted Paula Jackson’s daughter in the van and called police.

Online jail records did not list an attorney for the Jacksons.
