ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Police say a man has been arrested for driving under the influence with his 3-year-old son in the car.

The Athens Banner-Herald (https://bit.ly/1JV5nb4 ) reports 28-year-old Jameel Ahmad Ellis was arrested early Monday morning at Pinewood Apartments in Athens. Police say they were called to the complex on a woman’s report Ellis was drinking and had taken their child during a domestic dispute and drove off.

An officer found Ellis and the child parked elsewhere in the complex. Ellis reportedly explained he stopped because he had been drinking and did not want to go out on the road.

Ellis was charged with DUI and endangering a child while driving under the influence. It is unclear if he has a lawyer.
