BRENTWOOD, N.H. (AP) - A jury has convicted a teenager of second-degree assault in an accident in which he hit two women with his car last year in Hampton, New Hampshire, seriously injuring them.

WMUR-TV reports the jury acquitted 18-year-old Remi Gross-Santos of aggravated driving under the influence Wednesday afternoon.

Prosecutors said Gross-Santos knew he was impaired and decided to drive, anyway. The defense said there was no evidence he was impaired, and he just fell asleep behind the wheel.

The jury deliberated for a short time Wednesday afternoon.
