BROWNWOOD, Texas (AP) - A commissary clerk at a West Texas jail has been accused of smuggling drugs to an inmate facing life in prison and having sex with him.

Brown County jail records show 34-year-old Amanda Michelle Sanders was freed Wednesday on $10,000 bond.

Online records do not list an attorney for Sanders, who was fired Tuesday and arrested. She’s charged with providing a controlled substance to a correctional facility.

Authorities allege Sanders had sex with the inmate, who was in the county jail while awaiting transfer to prison to serve a life term.

Brown County Sheriff Bobby Grubbs didn’t release the name of the inmate or details on his conviction. An internal investigation led to the firing and arrest of Sanders, who allegedly had controlled substances inside the jail.
