CANTON, N.Y. (AP) - A former college soccer coach is scheduled to stand trial in late November on charges that he killed his ex-girlfriend’s 12-year-old son in northern New York four years ago.

Oral “Nick” Hillary’s trial on second-degree murder charges is scheduled to begin Nov. 30 in a St. Lawrence County court. He’s charged with killing Garrett Phillips by suffocating and strangling him in the boy’s home in Potsdam in October 2011.

The 40-year-old Hillary was the men’s soccer coach at Clarkson University at the time. He pleaded not guilty to the charges earlier this year.

Hillary remains free on $150,000 bond.

His lawyer says Hillary has two alibi witnesses who will testify he wasn’t at the boy’s home at the time of his death.
