LYNDONVILLE, Vt. (AP) - A 17-year-old Vermont student has pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault after police say he punched a classmate as part of a game.

The Caledonian Record reports (https://bit.ly/1BmhpZE) the classmate at the Lyndon Institute suffered serious injuries from the “Bag Tag” game, in which he was punched in the groin. Police said the classmate, who said he wasn’t playing the game, was hospitalized for 13 days.

Doctors told police the student’s condition was caused by the assault, but the injuries may have been exacerbated by some type of complication.

Jeremy Marcy pleaded not guilty in Caledonia Superior Court on Monday.
