CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A federal jury has found a former Mecklenburg County school nurse supervisor guilty of attempting to hire men to kill her ex-husband.

Multiple news sources report Fathia Davis was convicted Tuesday in the murder-for-hire scheme. The verdict came after secretly recorded videos showed Davis negotiating with undercover officers she thought were hit men in February. Officials say she offered $4,000 to have the hit men shoot her ex-husband in the head.

Davis’ attorney told jurors she was stressed out because of an ongoing custody dispute with her ex-husband. Davis says it was not her intention to have him killed, but beat up.

Davis had been free on bail since her February arrest, but federal marshals took her into custody when she was found guilty. A sentencing date hasn’t been set.
