WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Wichita authorities say two people have been taken to a hospital after an explosion at a Wichita plastics-making plant.

Wichita media outlets report two people were taken to a local hospital for exposure to smoke, and that five others refused treatment for minor injuries.

Emergency crews responded to a report of an explosion at Wescon Plastics just after 8 p.m. Wednesday. According to KAKE-TV, emergency crews said part of a machine used to make PVC pipes over-pressurized and blew apart.

The explosion is under investigation.
