CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - Three sailors have been rescued on the first day of the storm-delayed Great Texas 300 catamaran race off Texas.

The Coast Guard on Friday announced one sailor was being treated for injuries.

Thursday’s start of the Great Texas 300, from South Padre Island to Galveston, was delayed for a time as what had been Tropical Storm Bill moved on.

The Coast Guard saved two men after their boat capsized during the first leg, from South Padre Island to Mustang Island. The skipper suffered a facial wound. He and another sailor were transported to shore.

Another sailor went overboard late Thursday afternoon about 11 miles north of Baffin (BAF’-in) Bay. A Coast Guard rescue swimmer helped get the man back to his catamaran.

The Great Texas 300 runs through Saturday.

This story has been corrected to show the Great Texas 300 runs through Saturday, not Sunday.
