GOLD BEACH, Ore. (AP) - A Coast Guard helicopter crew has rescued a 37-year-old swimmer who found himself stranded on Kissing Rock on the southern Oregon coast near Gold Beach.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Katelyn Shearer says the helicopter crew hoisted the man from the rock and set him down on the nearby beach Friday evening. She says he was unable to return to shore due to the rising tide.

The Coast Guard says the swimmer was wearing only shorts. He was not identified.

Conditions at the scene were reported to include 3-foot seas with 11 mph winds and a water temperature of 53 degrees.
