SALEM, N.H. (AP) - Police are charging a Massachusetts man with negligent homicide in a two-car crash that killed a Salem man.

WMUR reports (https://bit.ly/1ITZgCj ) that 26-year-old Michael Gomez of Lowell, Massachusetts, was arrested Friday at his home.

Thirty-three-year-old Phillip Carter of Salem died of injuries he sustained in the crash. Police say Gomez was headed southbound on Route 28 and hit Carter’s car as Carter was attempting to pull out of a parking lot. The impact sheered Carter’s car in half.

Gomez waived extradition in Lowell District Court and was taken into custody by Salem police. He is scheduled to appear in Salem District Court Monday. Police said speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.
