WILLOW, Alaska (AP) - Two residents have been displaced after a fire tore through their home in Willow, about 50 miles north of Anchorage.

KTVA-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1G0vLyK ) that about 13 dogs died in the blaze. Their owner was involved in the dog sledding community.

Mat-Su Borough Department of Emergency Services spokesman Ken Barkley says the deceased dogs included both adults and pups. Other animals that either escaped or were already outside the residence survived.

The Red Cross of Alaska has provided the two displaced residents with financial support for immediate needs.
