JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Two Quitman County inmates who escaped a worksite are back in custody.

WCBI-TV (https://bit.ly/1GV4XB0 ) reports Caleb Lee Davenport and Zachary Curtis Reed, who had escaped from a worksite Monday, were re-captured by Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol officers later that afternoon. The men are inmates at the Quitman County Community Work Center.

Authorities say Davenport and Reed left their work detail at the Coahoma County Community College shortly after noon.

A state trooper spotted the men walking U.S. 61 and one inmate was still wearing the state issued green and white MDOC outfit.

Davenport is serving a six-year sentence for three counts of burglary of a vehicle. Reed is serving a 5-year sentence for one count of grand larceny.

They now each face an additional 5-year sentence if convicted of escape.
