FLINT, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 16-year-old boy who was critically injured after falling through the roof of a vacant school in Flint has died.

WEYI-TV and The Flint Journal report Michael Inman was taken to a hospital following the fall on Sunday at Johnson Elementary School and later died. His family says he was removed from life support Monday.

Authorities say boy was among a group on the roof of the school, which closed after the 2005-06 school year. Police say the 16-year-old jumped on a vent grate that gave way, dropping him to the gymnasium floor.

Michelle Barry, Michael’s cousin, says the young people shouldn’t have been on the property but asked why it wasn’t secured.

Flint Community Schools says the incident was tragic and noted that people shouldn’t be trespassing.
