FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say a bicyclist is dead after crashing along a county road near Horsetooth Reservoir west of Fort Collins.

Colorado State Patrol investigators say the victim, who was only identified as a male, apparently went off the side of County Road 23 on Tuesday morning and crashed into a shallow ditch. It does not appear that a vehicle was involved in the crash.

The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports (https://goo.gl/nIRxsO ) the stretch of paved road where the crash happened is known as Stadium Hill Climb or Centennial Climb. Cyclists can reach 45 mph when traveling north on the descent.

It’s unclear if anyone witnessed Tuesday’s crash.
