RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A movie about a Confederate soldier’s wife has completed filming in Virginia.

The Virginia Film Office says the independent feature film “Josephine” was shot in Halifax County. It tells the story of a woman who disguised herself as a man to join the Confederate Army in hopes of finding her soldier husband. The project was inspired by letters written by John Wesley Robinson to his wife Josephine during the war.

The film was directed by Rory Feek, a member of the husband-and-wife country music duo Joey + Rory.
