ALTOONA, Iowa (AP) - Facebook is building another data center in central Iowa.

The company announced Tuesday it will begin constructing a third data center this summer at its campus in Altoona. The first two facilities, located in the same complex, are designed to store computer servers.

Facebook began serving traffic from its first data center in Altoona in November 2014. A second data center is under construction and is expected to serve traffic later this year.

When the data center campus was first announced in 2013, the company said it would have the capacity to build a third data center.

Facebook did not provide information about construction costs. The company said in 2013 it would invest nearly $300 million on the project.
