WINTER PARK, Florida (AP) - A ninth-grade student at a central Florida high school accused of making threatening comments about a teacher on Twitter was arrested last week.

Winter Park police said the 15-year-old girl was arrested May 28 on charges of “written threats to kill” and cyberstalking. The police report said the girl posted six messages that included both threats and wishes that the teacher would kill herself.

The Orlando Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1I56XYM ) reported Monday that the girl was apparently upset over a bad grade.

The police report says a dean at the school contacted an officer after seeing the messages Thursday morning. It did not say how the messages were discovered or whether they were found by the Orange County school districts new software, which monitors social media postings on campus.

A spokesman for the school district did not provide information on the incident Monday afternoon.

The girl was taken to the county’s Juvenile Assessment Center.

The police report did not include any information about the girl but that she was born in Florida.
