DENVER (AP) - A jury has convicted a man accused of wounding his estranged wife, killing her neighbor and setting several makeshift explosive devices in southwest Denver.

The Denver District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday that 33-year-old Daniel Abeyta was convicted Monday of second-degree murder, first-degree assault and child abuse. He is scheduled to be sentenced July 27.

Prosecutors say Abeyta wounded his wife, Autume Estrada, and killed her neighbor, 46-year-old Sandra Roskilly, in August 2013. After the slaying, Abeyta was shot by police after they say he fired at a propane tank with gunpowder on top.

Abeyta pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
