MONROE, N.C. (AP) - A Mecklenburg County probation officer has been arrested on heroin charges after investigators say he bought the drug twice while on duty.

Multiple news outlets report Justin Shane McGlamery was arrested May 28 and charged with four counts of heroin possession and possession of drugs with intent to sell or distribute among other charges.

Union County investigators say McGlamery bought heroin four times over a two-week period last month. Authorities say during two of the purchases, McGlamery was on duty as a probation officer, driving his state-issued car and displaying his gun and badge.

Investigators say during his arrest, McGlamery swallowed heroin and was hospitalized overnight.

He was released from jail on $125,000 bail and is scheduled to make a first court appearance July 7.
