PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - Police are looking for a 25-year-old northern New Jersey man who they say shot a 17-year-old girl over the weekend.

Authorities say Luis Polanco is still at large more than two days after the shooting. He’s charged with attempted murder and weapons charges.

Paterson police say the shooting occurred around 2:10 a.m. Saturday. The teen was shot and seriously wounded while sitting in the passenger seat of a car.

It’s not clear if the teen or someone else in the car was targeted or if the car was moving or parked when the shooting occurred.

The victim, a Clifton resident, was shot in the back.

It’s unclear how police linked Polanco to the shooting.
