WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) - A Waterville woman is facing a variety of charges after police say she ran a stop sign and crashed into a house while under the influence of drugs, and with her 17-month daughter in her vehicle.

Police say 42-year-old Heidi Everson was taken to the hospital after the Sunday night crash, where she allegedly assaulted a nurse.

Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey says the child was in a car seat, but the seat was not properly secured. Neither mother nor baby was hurt.

Everson, facing charges including operating under the influence of drugs, remains in jail on bail. She is scheduled to appear in court July 27.

Police say the car Everson was driving was destroyed.

The state took custody of the child.
