SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) - A strong spring storm has brought heavy rain, thunder, lightning and some hail to areas of eastern Washington and north Idaho.

In areas north of Spokane, Washington, and around Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Avista Utilities reported that hundreds of customers temporarily lost power Monday night.

The National Weather Service office in Spokane says the Coeur d’Alene airport measured nearly an inch and a half of rain in less than an hour.

KHQ-TV in Spokane says one viewer reported lightning striking a tree in her yard, starting a small fire.
