SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Officials at a Vermont Humane Society office say recent vandalism against them prevents them from doing their job.

WCAX-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1I8bCGB) the back window of a van belonging to the Humane Society of Chittenden County has been hit twice in the past two weeks, the latest occurring Saturday night.

The nonprofit’s parking lot backs up to an abandoned building in South Burlington, which is not well lit at night. The lack of lighting causes security footage to be poor.

The community has reached out to help the Humane Society replace the glass.

Human Society President Nancy Cathcart says she hopes to have the van back in service this week, which the organization uses to pick up animals from the south.
