PERRYSVILLE, Ohio (AP) - Authorities in northern Ohio say a 16-year-old girl who tried to rescue a swimmer is dead and another teen remains missing.

The sheriff’s office in Ashland County says the search for the missing 16-year-old boy is continuing Saturday.

The two teens were trying to help in a rescue Friday near the Pleasant Hill Dam where a group had been swimming. The sheriff’s office says the body of the 16-year-old girl was found about a mile away from the area.

A ranger with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources was able to rescue the 14-year-old girl who the older girl tried to save.
