AMES, Iowa (AP) - Police in central Iowa say a man is dead following an overnight shooting.

A news release from the Ames Police Department says officers received a report of a shooting at 1 a.m. Saturday. When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the head. The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police says witnesses reported hearing an argument and several gunshots outside the residence where the man was found before officers arrived. Two other men at the residence were being interviewed by investigators.

No arrests had been reported by midday Saturday.
