WASHINGTON (AP) - Washington’s first “cat cafe” is open.

Crumbs & Whiskers opened Saturday on O Street in Georgetown. Visitors can interact with cats that live at the cafe, and they can order food and coffee delivered from a different cafe across the street.

Crumbs & Whiskers came to fruition through a Kickstarter campaign. The cats at the cafe are provided by the Washington Humane Society and available for adoption. About two dozen cats are expected to live in the space at any one time.

Store owner Kanchan Singh says she hopes going to the cafe will be a way for people to relax. Visiting the cafe costs $10 an hour during the week and $12 on the weekends. Visitors can make reservations online at the cafe’s website.
