MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Emergency planners and others are gathering in Mobile next week for a two-state conference on hurricane preparedness.

The state emergency management agencies for Alabama and Mississippi are staging the Central Gulf Coast Hurricane Conference beginning Tuesday in Mobile. The meeting continues through Friday.

The meetings provide a chance for volunteer groups, faith-based organizations and others to discuss hurricane plans with government response agencies.

The state of Alabama’s Governor’s Preparedness Conference will be held in conjunction with the event. It includes topics aside from tropical weather threats.
