PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Maine’s largest gay pride event is getting started in Portland.

The Pride Portland! Parade and Festival begins at noon on Saturday in Monument Square with the parade. Line-up begins at 10 a.m. The parade ends at Deering Oaks Park, which hosts the Pride Festival from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The festival includes a main stage with music and other performances, a beer garden, activities for children and families and a food court.

The event also includes a marketplace with more than 50 lesbian, gay and transgender-friendly businesses. The festival is free.
