CANDO, N.D. (AP) - The National Weather Service says a tornado touched down Saturday afternoon in northwest North Dakota.

Meteorologist Brad Hopkins says the twister made contact about seven miles east of Cando around 4:10 p.m.

Towner County Sheriff’s Deputy Heidi Sakrismo says they haven’t received any reports of damage from the tornado.

The weather service is continuing to monitor the storm as it moves southeast.

A tornado warning expired at 5:45 p.m. for southwestern Ramsey County and southeastern Benson County. A new one is in effect until 6:15 p.m. for southeastern Griggs County and North Central Barnes County.

Hopkins says those in the warning area should seek shelter and report any damage to law enforcement.
