INKSTER, Mich. (AP) - A funeral is scheduled Saturday for a woman deemed the world’s oldest person who died at her suburban Detroit home at age 116.

Jeralean Talley died Wednesday at her home in Inkster.

Thelma Holloway says her mother was recently hospitalized and treated for fluid in her lungs.

Talley turned 116 last month.

The Detroit News (https://bit.ly/1ClWEZ2 ) says Talley’s funeral is at 11 a.m. at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in Inkster. Visitation will take place at the church 1-7 p.m. Friday and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

The Los Angeles-based Gerontology Research Group says the oldest living person now is 115-year-old Susannah Jones of Brooklyn, New York.

Talley was born in Montrose, Georgia, in 1899 and moved to Michigan in the 1930s. Talley’s husband died in 1988 at 95.
