MALDEN, Mass. (AP) - The state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education is meeting this week to discuss two of the state’s struggling school systems.

The board is scheduled to meet at its Malden headquarters on Tuesday.

Among the items on the agenda to be discussed is a progress report on the Lawrence Public Schools, in their third year of state receivership, and an update on Holyoke Public Schools, which have just been put under state control.

Some other items on the agenda include a discussion on strengthening civic learning; breakfast in the classroom; and redefining low income.
