SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Miss Nebo Krissia Beatty has been crowned Miss Utah, topping a field of 50 other contestants from across the state.

Saturday night’s state pageant in Salt Lake City marked the end of a week of preliminary competition and the start of Beatty’s one-year reign that will see her take her platform - “Live Well - Change the Focus” - across Utah.

Beatty won a $10,000 scholarship and advances to the Miss America pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in September.
