DALLAS (AP) - Rains that swept through North Texas caused flooding that closed some roads, seeped into some homes and caused the collapse of a rural bridge.

National Weather Service meteorologist Ted Ryan told The Associated Press 3 to 6 inches of rain fell across the already-saturated area Sunday.

He says a Hunt County bridge collapsed after the water below rose at the low-water crossing. He says, “Once the water gets higher than the bridges, they run the risk of failing.” He said there were no injuries.

A Collin County official says that in addition to road closures there, water had seeped into some homes in the small town of Josephine.
