CINCINNATI (AP) - The funeral for a Cincinnati police officer killed in a shootout will be held this coming Friday.

A public viewing and visitation is scheduled for Thursday at Xavier University’s basketball arena. The funeral will be held there the next day.

Cincinnati officer Sonny Kim died Friday after responding to a 911 call when police say a 21-year-old shot man and killed the 48-year-old officer.

Cincinnati’s police chief says the man suspected of fatally shooting the officer apparently told others that he wanted police to kill him.

The suspect was later shot and killed after another officer arrived.

Kim is the first Cincinnati police officer killed on duty in 15 years.
